We offer you our Hydromec worm gears individually or with an attached electric motor in round or rectangular versions as a simple worm gear, as a double worm gear or as a spur gear worm gear from stock. Available as aluminium, cast iron or stainless steel gears. With us you also have the option of generating the right drive for you thanks to our modular system. Regardless of whether it is a special flange, special shaft, special installation position or other special requirements - we will assemble your individual worm gear motor for you
Worm gears have the great advantage of self-locking and can achieve the smallest speeds due to the large reduction range. In particular, when using a spur gear or a double worm gear, you are able to reduce the speed many times over. In addition, the gears are considered to be low-noise and vibration-damping. In addition, they offer great advantages during assembly due to their hollow shaft and their mounting surfaces that are machined on all sides. The use of worm gear motors is also considered to be very space-saving and thus meets the expectations of economical assembly.
Of course, you can also get our worm geared motors, on request, as explosion-proof motors according to ATEX guidelines.

At a glance
Worm gears from Hydromec are characterized by their compact design and excellent quality. Made of aluminum and cast iron, the gearboxes usually consist of a bronze alloy worm wheel and a hardened steel worm shaft. Worm gears are toothed gears with crossing axes arranged at right angles. While the worm wheel is only driven, the worm shaft is the driving part. These gearboxes are suitable for use in simple applications with normal requirements. They have been developed for use with three-phase and servo motors. In most cases, the gearboxes are therefore supplied with an attached electric motor as worm gear motors.
However, self-locking gears do not achieve a very high degree of efficiency, especially with higher gear reductions and longer operating times. Due to the combination of bronze and hardened steel, they are subject to wear. For this reason, they should not be used in absolute continuous operation.

The advantages of worm gears are manifold. Not only are they inexpensive, they also run more quietly than spur gears. In addition, they generally have less play and are more vibration-damping. Furthermore, the gears have the ability to self-lock. In order to achieve this self-locking, the worm gear must have a small pitch angle. Static self-locking usually occurs from a reduction of 1:40 to 1:100. This means that passage due to forces from the output shaft side is only possible in the event of vibration. The large number of accessories as well as the fastening and threaded holes of the Hydromec worm gears and worm geared motors enable ideal assembly in all installation positions.
GEMOTEG Worm Gears & Motors | K Series
We sell our own rectangular GEMOTEG worm gears under our own brand GEMODRIVE – the K series. Our GEMOTEG gears are cost-effective worm gears and, with an attached electric motor and/or variable speed gear, form an ideal drive for simple drive applications. You have the great advantage of the 90° angle outlet as well as the option of a hollow shaft or solid shaft design. The K-Gear series is available in the versions simple worm gear, helical worm gear and double worm gear. Most gearboxes from the K series can be delivered immediately from stock. We also offer you the option of ordering our K worm gears with or without a built-in overload slip clutch. You can choose whether you need the gearboxes with a motor input flange or with a free input shaft.

KV – helical worm gear
KD – double worm gear
KL – worm gear with slipping clutch
KR – worm gear with free input shaft
We can also supply you with our K gearboxes with an attached electric motor as worm gear motors. Are you looking for inexpensive worm gears that are still powerful and reliable? Then our K series is the ideal solution for you! The gears of the K series are rectangular worm gears that are ideal for simple drive cases. The GEMOTEG worm gears are made of aluminum, contain bronze-alloyed worm gears and input shafts and worm shafts made of alloyed steel. Our gearboxes are available with both NBR and FPM (Viton) shaft sealing rings and with IEC or NEMA output flanges. Our worm gears are available in 10 different sizes and are individually filled with the appropriate amount of oil depending on the installation position. We deliver our gearboxes with gear reductions from i = 5 to i = 100 and, on request, add electric motors with a power of up to 45 kW.

Worm gear made of specially treated aluminum
The VFZ series of our aluminum worm gears is characterized by the special processing of its surface. The so-called NTTTM surface treatment of the aluminum ensures exceptional properties of the aluminum gear. Characteristic of the VFZ gearboxes are the high corrosion resistance and the long service life. They are suitable for use in many different industries. Among other things, the VFZ worm gears are ideally suited for applications in the food industry, the beverage industry as well as the fishing industry and the shipbuilding industry. The gearboxes are available with double Viton sealing rings with stainless steel and with protective caps. In addition, drive shafts, output shafts and hollow shafts made of stainless steel can be optionally attached. The shafts are made of AISI 316L. Components made entirely of stainless steel, such as torque arms and feet, are available as additional accessories for the VFZ gearbox. The worm gears of the VFZ series are also available as clutch gears. With the installation of a motor input coupling, a wide variety of motor sizes can be mounted on a gearbox.
