Friction gears / friction gear motors
These special gears have been tried and tested, simple and robust speed controllers for many decades. They are ideal for use in simple applications in which no electrical adjustment option is required or desired. The Italian company VARMEC is one of the few Italian manufacturers of these high quality variable speed drives. As a sales partner, we offer you the great advantage of a delivery time from stock or within a few days from extensive stock.
The VARMEC friction gears of type VAR we sell with graphite friction ring in a cast iron housing with an adjustment range of 1: 5 are available in foot and flange versions in 5 different sizes (VAR 2...VAR30). They can either be designed as a pure variable speed drive or with up to 2 pre-stage gears for further speed reduction. The adjustment hand wheel can be attached on both sides or replaced by an electrical adjustment.
We would also be happy to supply you with the gearbox as a friction gear motor. In our in-house assembly, we equip the gearboxes with electric motors with a motor power between 0.12 and 3.00 kW. This results in torques of up to 750Nm.
Realizable speeds:
Minimum n2: 7.5 – 7.4 rpm,
Maximum n2: 350 – 1750 rpm – n1:1400 rpm
We can also supply the VARMEC friction gears with hardened output shafts made of 39 Ni Cr Mo3 or 18 Ni Cr Mo5 UNI7846 as well as with a cross hole or special design.
